What is a BID?<\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Business Improvement Districts have been operating across the UK for nearly twenty years, with the first BID starting in January 2005. There are over 300 BIDs set up around the UK, with over 70 being in London alone. Local successful BIDs include Love Wimbledon and Kingston First. A BID is established following a successful ballot for a BID term of five years. All businesses within a defined boundary play a mandatory annual levy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BID was first established in Canada and the United States in the 1960s but has since expanded rapidly, existing globally in South Africa, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
