On Monday the 8th<\/sup> of May the Putney community celebrated the King’s Coronation in Church Square. We had family friendly activities including arts and crafts and circus activities, aswell as the opportunity to take part in the \u2018Big Help Out\u2019, planting and litter picking. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Riverside Radio provided live entertainment with performances from Martha May and Francesca Guerra and were also broadcasting live from the event.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balloon modeller Neil was very popular and his queue was long but children waited patiently to be made a balloon sword, crown or bracelet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circus Sensible got the little ones mastering circus activities, one boy even showed off his skills live on the radio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arts table was very busy with over 100 crowns made, regal bracelets and badges. All worn with pride throughout the day. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Local Putney business The Massage Company<\/a> provided free 10 minutes massages and provided a prize of free 50-minute massage courtesy to one lucky winner at the end of the event. If you missed out you can find them on the first floor of Putney Exchange Shopping Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


With a special Coronation menu Tequila Mockingbird<\/a> were making refreshing cocktails – popular with both those celebrating the Coronation and the Fulham football fans walking through to the match!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>

All ages joined for the litter pick and got to work clearing the steps alongside Putney Bridge, then onto Putney Bridge Road, and finished with the planters in Church Square. They collected over 10 bags of litter. Wandsworth Council Street Services kindly came and picked up the rubbish bags. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Colourful geraniums were planted in the planters in Church Square and outside Marks & Spencer’s. Some children tried their hand at gardening for the first time and others were just keen on watering the plants (and floor!) The forty bedding plants were provided by Noor Plants who have recently opened in front of Putney Arts Theatre on Putney Bridge Road. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>

People were invited to paint the big wooden letters spelling PUTNEY. Lots of children and toddlers got involved in painting in red, white and blue in honour of King Charles III.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Positively Putney would like to thank The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Jeremy Ambache and Councillor Kemi Akinola for attending our event and getting stuck in with all the activities we had on offer including litter picking and painting the giant Putney letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the day was a great success, and we would like to thank all those who came along. Look out for the PUTNEY letters painted displayed on Putney High Street.   <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
