The e-bikes can collect recycling and waste\nthroughout the day, as they are not restricted by council time bands, and have\nthe added benefit of being able to negotiate heavy traffic without the same\ntoxic fumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The benefits of the pioneering new\nservice include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reduced vehicle movements and emissions as local\n     businesses\u2019 waste will be consolidated on a single site \u2013 requiring only\n     one vehicle (operated by Paper Round) to collect it each day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased recycling as businesses will be offered reduced\n     cost recycling collections, subsidised by Positively Putney<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexible collection times from business premises and\n     access to off-street waste storage, keeping business waste off the streets\n     and where it belongs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Toby Lewin-Lloyd, Chair of\nPositively Putney Business Improvement District, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThis project has taken a while\nto come to fruition \u2013 but it\u2019s been worth the wait. We were well aware of the\nissues that our local businesses faced, and knew we needed to find a solution\nthat worked for them and for the neighbourhood as a whole. This new scheme is a\nhuge improvement on the current set-up and has the added benefit of helping\nreduce damaging air pollution around the high street. I\u2019m certain that local\ntraders will welcome being free from collection headaches so that they can\nconcentrate on running their businesses.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sarah Craddock, Commercial Waste\nManager at LWARB, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLWARB are excited to be part of this partnership, which has a double environmental dividend of improving recycling and reducing air pollution. There are a number of excellent waste consolidation schemes across the capital, but this is unique for its innovative approach to collection which offers benefits to businesses as well as the wider community.
